    The Daimler Center for Automotive Information Technology Innovations (DCAITI) specializes in future scenarios in automotive electronics. The institute was created in 2006 as a joint initiative of Daimler AG and the Technische Universität Berlin.

  • The goal of our work is to shape automotive innovations through information technology applications. A speciality of DCAITI is that we can explore novel automotive electronics applications in our own research vehicle.

  • A team of motivated researchers from the TU Berlin is conducting the various research projects at the DCAITI. They work in joint cooperation with the development departments at Daimler AG and Fraunhofer Gesellschaft.

    My research and teaching interests are currently focused on (secure) car-2-x communication, Internet-based telematic services, and simulation for cooperative vehicles.

  • In recent years, revolutionary developments and trends could be monitored in the automotive domain. Connected cars and automated driving, collaborative mobility are just a few of these topics. Embedding vehicles into a greater mobility network by established communication links between vehicles and other vehicles, but also between traffic management centres, traffic lights, other means of transport, pedestrians, pollution sensors etc. is one of the key approaches here.

    The assessment of new solutions for connected and automated mobility requires sophisticated tools. In this context, we at the DCAITI develop solutions for the holistic simulation of mobility applications. The MOSAIC simulation framework offers a flexible tool to setup sytem simulations for smart and connected mobility, while PHABMACS offers a platform for rapidly prototyping novel driver assistence systems.

  • Starting from October 2020, VSimRTI is open-source and is distributed as Eclipse MOSAIC under the Eclipse Public License.

    MOSAIC is a multi-scale and multi-domain co-simulation framework for the assessment of new solutions for connected and automated mobility. The Open Source version Eclipse MOSAIC offers everything you need to assess smart mobility scenarios, while the enhanced version MOSAIC Extended provides further tools and models, such as the vehicle dynamics simulator PHABMACS.

    Physically realistic simulation allows for quick prototyping of cooperative Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) for vehicles and VRUs. PHABMACS can simulate complete virtual vehicle environments including vehicle dynamics, sensors, HD lane accurate road infrastructure and communication elements.
